Primary purpose: Responsible for the safe, efficient and quality-conscious loading and unloading of cargo onto and/or from trucks and rail cars, as well as into and/or from containers by use of lift trucks.
Essential duties and responsibilities: - Manually and using mechanical lifting equipment, transfer cargo for storage in warehouses for further transfer onto rail cars or onto land transportation from the terminal.
- Effectively coordinate and complete required documentation and reports related to transfers.
- Participate in the upkeep and maintenance of equipment, gear and related.
- May be assigned to general duties in all areas of operations of the terminals.
- Responsible for accomplishing tasks to the supervisors expectation and within Company standards.
- Participation in safety and environmental training and attendance to daily briefings.
- Observation of company safety and operational procedures and policies. Prompt reporting of any observed unsafe conditions to management.
- Performance of any other type of terminal function as instructed by management.
Education: - High School diploma or GED is required.
Experience / specific knowledge:
- Successful work experience demonstrating good workplace attendance, compliance with policy, willingness to work overtime and safe and quality conscious work.
- Previous experience in an industry related to the transportation of cargo is preferred.
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
- Must meet the criteria to maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) as required by TSA regulations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain MTSA Security clearance is required.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen upon job offer.

- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must take direction from supervision and work cooperatively with others.
Physical demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may be required to stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, frequently lift up to 60 pounds, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to operate or learn to operate lifting equipment used in performing job.
Working conditions:
- The position is assigned a variable schedule (days, nights, weekends and holidays) and will be required to work overtime hours.
- Tasks are performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
