About the Job
Coordinates and controls the flow of tonnage in and out of the warehouse; processes warehouse paperwork and maintains warehouse files; schedules warehouse personnel to maximize efficiency, keep claims down, and ensure profitability. Assistant to and provides backup for Local Operations Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision of warehouse foreman, warehousemen, yardman, and any personnel that works in or around the warehouse on any given day. Maintains good rapport with contract drivers and local drivers; maintains relationship with other agents regarding warehousing needs.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans an efficient daily work schedule for the warehouse.
- Evaluates each warehouseman’s skills and selects the appropriate individual(s) for each specific job.
- Maintains file of all storage items received into or delivered out of warehouse.
- Maintains a safe and clean warehouse facility.
- Keeps warehouse claims to a minimum by enforcing proper exceptions and loading procedures.
- Reviews warehouse claims monthly with claims department.
- Meets claims goals for warehouse yearly.
- Maintains appropriate levels of warehousing and packing supplies.
- Maintains good working relationships with operations supervisors and sales staff in order to coordinate daily warehouse operations.
- Maintains good rapport with drivers, movers, and packers.
- Supervises and controls flow of traffic and men on yard.
- Supplies vice president of operations and operations manager with monthly report tonnage in and out of the warehouse, along with comparative figures from previous year.
- Maintains daily board of storage container availability.
- Supervises maintenance and upkeep of sprinkler system for all warehouses.
- Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of grounds and facilities.
- Warehouse Management System (Windfall) – Must become proficient in this technology and adopt and support the daily usage of it on our Commercial projects.
- Electronic Inventory System (Fastrack) – Must ensure all crews that receive and release shipments from the warehouse are proficient in using this system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Computer literacy; basic math skills; good communication and problem solving skills; knowledge of forklifts and their operation; knowledge of dry air sprinkler systems and their maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education: 2 to 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
Required Experience: 2 to 3 years of moving & storage experience; one to two years warehousing and supervisory experience.
License/Certification: Certified Weighmaster; valid Virginia Operators license.

Works in an office environment.
Physical Demands:
Work is performed in a typical, comfortable interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks.
