Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, a Material Handler in warehouse operations is responsible for performing a variety of tasks that support the processing of returned/recalled items on behalf of a retailer or manufacturer. The Material Handler position requires high attention to detail and ability to read, understand and follow standard operating procedures specific to this position.
Primary Duties:
- Lift and move boxes to and/or from the scanning lines
- Open boxes (or other containers) of returned/recalled items with a box cutter
- Visually match or identify the Return Authorization (RA) information on the outside of the container to the paperwork and specific items within the container to verify that it matches
- Follow instructions for handling any discrepancies noted
- Prepare paperwork for scanning by smoothing folds and removing staples; enter additional information to the system as prompted
- Place items processed into a tote; prepare a placard with RA and tote barcode for scanning process
- When scanning process is complete, add totes to a pallet, label the pallet for storage; move pallets to storage as directed
- Stock empty totes at scanning lines and remove trash from scanning area as directed
- Always maintain a clean and orderly workstation and area
- If forklift certified, operate forklift for movement of order/products on the processing floor, if assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- High School diploma (or its equivalent) or minimum of two year’s work experience in a warehouse or production job; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the responsibilities of this position
- Able to follow standard operation and safety procedures
- Able to work in an environment that is not climate controlled
- Able to push a cart or hand truck up to 100 yards; able to use a pallet jack
- Able to grasp and use box cutters and seal zip lock bags
- Able to work under time pressure and meet production goals; able to work more than 8 hours per day (over-time) as needed
- Able to assist with other operations within the warehouse, as needed
- Able to handle hazardous waste materials with appropriate safety measures

- Regularly required to view items at an extremely close range and must be able to adjust and readjust focus.
- Regularly required to remain in a standing position more than 2 hours at a time.
