Position Overview: The Warehouse Produce Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of fresh produce within a warehouse setting. The Warehouse Produce Worker will be responsible for various tasks, including receiving, inspecting, sorting, packing, and shipping produce items. They will work as part of a team, collaborating with other warehouse staff to meet productivity goals while adhering to established guidelines and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Inspection: Receive incoming produce shipments and verify their accuracy against purchase orders.
- Inspect produce items for quality, freshness, and compliance with safety standards.
- Document any damaged or spoiled items and report them to the supervisor.
- Sorting and Storage: Sort and organize produce items based on specific criteria such as size, type, and quality.
- Properly store produce in designated areas, ensuring appropriate temperature and humidity levels are maintained.
- Rotate stock and monitor expiry dates to prevent spoilage and ensure the availability of fresh produce.
- Packing and Packaging: Prepare produce orders for shipment according to customer requirements and specifications.
- Package items carefully, considering their fragility and perishability.
- Label packages accurately, including product information, batch numbers, and expiry dates.
- Inventory Management: Conduct regular inventory counts to track produce stock levels.
- Update inventory records in the warehouse management system.
- Assist in forecasting produce needs based on sales data and upcoming promotions.
Quality Control: Follow quality control protocols to maintain the freshness, flavor, and appearance of produce.
Implement proper handling techniques to minimize bruising, contamination, and damage.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in cold or humid conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot defects or quality issues.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management.
