Summary Objective
Under the supervision of a Certified Water Treatment Plant Operator or the supervisor, an employee will operate and care for a variety of water treatment plant equipment during an assigned shift. Work involves proper operation and regulation of plant equipment so that end products meet the quality standards of the federal, state and county regulatory agencies and of the Public Works Department. Work includes the operation of pumps, lime machines, and other related equipment, collecting water samples for laboratory analysis, taking and recording of meter readings at regular intervals, and controlling the addition of water treatment chemicals to the raw
water. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school graduate. Must obtain a Class "C" Water Treatment Plant Operator's Certificate by the third examination attempt or within two years from the date of hire as a trainee, whichever comes first, as issued by the State of Florida in compliance with Chapter 62-602 of the Florida Administrative Code and all revisions thereof.
Experience in mechanics of pumps and other plant mechanical equipment. Ability to maintain simple records and perform simple input operations on a computer.
This position requires the successful passing of a background check and drug screening. All applicants must upload an educational diploma/degree and a valid State of Florida Driver's License to the document section of the online application.
