Job Summary: The role of the Waterjet Operator I is to produce quality waterjet parts by learning the setup and operation of CNC waterjet machines. This position is responsible for compliance with quality standards and customer requirements. This position will have a basic understanding of CNC equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures, and removes clamps, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
- Proficiently operate machinery, and equipment such as waterjet, grinders, sanders, tumblers and bur whips, jitter bugs and other non-electric tools
- Recognizes, deploys, and properly uses nozzles, offsets, heads and tooling
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on waterjet machines and equipment
- Identify opportunities for process improvement
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and workstations
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts per specifications using basic measuring equipment
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions
- Perform other duties as assigned
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Basic understanding of CNC machine operations
- Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning
- Basic ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, gauge pins)
- Basic ability to work with shop tools correctly (Sockets, wrenches, pliers, etc)
- Basic knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics, and measurement
- Familiarity and ability to identify different material types (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Titanium, etc)
- Ability to use latter’s, baskets, and safety harnesses correctly and safely.
- Ability to use pallet jack, floor dolly, and other moving equipment correctly and safely.
- Ability to get certified to drive and operate company forklift.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED required
- A minimum of 1 year of CNC operation preferred
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size
- Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout a shift
- Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout a workday, occasionally 50lbs with a team lift
- Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus
- Fast-paced environment
- Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request
- Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
- Moving mechanical parts and vibrations
- Exposure to hot metal and machining components
- Exposure to various types of coolants and oils
- 1st Shift Work Schedule: 5 – 8-hour shifts
