Hours: Monday- Friday 8am- 4:30pm or Tuesday- Friday 7am- 5:30pm
POSITION SUMMARY
The Weatherization Building Analyst will travel to clients' homes in Kitsap County using a company vehicle to perform home energy assessments and health and safety inspections. With a combination of on-the-job and certification training paid for by Kitsap Community Resources, the Building Analyst will evaluate the energy impact and safety of building components. Duties include but are not limited to diagnostic testing, data analysis, data entry, inspection of insulation and structural integrity, taking measurements, sketching floor plans, identifying heat sources, combustion safety testing, simple installations, communicating with clients, and working with contractors and providing a detailed scope of work. This role has the option to work Monday- Friday 8am- 4:30pm or Tuesday- Friday 7am- 5:30pm 4/10 schedule.

JOB DUTIES
+ Reports to Weatherization Director and accepts team assignments.
+ Makes contact with clients and gathers required information for audits.
+ Travels to client's homes using KCR company vehicle
+ Independently performs energy audits, checking homes for insulation levels (walls, under floors, ceilings) and structural integrity (walls, floors, roofs)
+ Identifies health and safety issues found during the energy audit and educates clients regarding them
+ Identifies primary and secondary heat sources as well as any combustion appliances and performs combustion safety testing
+ Performs diagnostic tests on homes and their systems utilizing blower doors, manometers, and other diagnostic equipment
+ Installs simple items such as LED light bulbs, smoke & Carbon monoxide detectors, and faucet aerators
+ Makes rough drawings of homes, detailing all door and window openings and sizes. Takes and documents all measurements for floor plans
+ Inputs audit information and data into documents, data bases, and programs including energy modeling software
+ Writes detailed scopes of work for contractors and works with contractors to ensure that scopes of work are completed as designed
+ Attends state and local trainings as requested, occasional travel required
+ Accepts other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ 1 Years of experience in residential construction or the trades Or 6 months education/experience in weatherization retrofit work, or other home performance related fields
+ Basic proficiency in mathematical computation
+ Mechanical skill and ability to utilize basic hand and power tools
+ Willing to work outside in all types of weather with potential exposure to conditions resulting from varied disrepair of buildings, sometime including garbage, sewage, and rodents
+ Must have the ability to climb ladders, crawl under buildings, including crawl spaces, attics, and roofs
+ Good problem solving/troubleshooting, analytical and technical skills
+ Ability to multi-task multiple projects at the same time and work both independently and as a positive team member
+ Ability to work with diverse populations including low-income clients
+ Ability to pass a Washington State criminal background check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ BPI certified Building Analyst, or Energy Auditor/Quality Control Inspector
+ Understanding of building science principles and application
+ Knowledge of home HVAC systems
+ Knowledge of TREAT, ECOS, or other energy modeling software
+ Knowledge of combustion safety testing practices
+ Knowledge of diagnostic tools used in the performance of weatherization audits (blower doors, manometers, fan flow meters, etc.)
+ Experience in residential construction and carpentry
+ Experience with weatherization retrofit work and measure installations
+ Experience with MS office applications
LICENSE(S) AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
+ Acquire Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst certification - within 1 year of hire (All certification and travel costs are paid by KCR)
+ Valid Washington State Driver's License
+ Current auto liability insurance
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL FUNCTIONS
+ Requires walking, reaching/stretching, intermittent sitting
+ Twisting, crawling in confined spaces, bending, climbing ladders and walking narrow surfaces
+ Must be able to regularly lift 30lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
+ Climbing ladders and possibly walking on roofs.
+ Requires accuracy with numbers and basic math proficiency
+ Requires the ability to communicate well with diverse groups of people
+ Requires the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy
+ Must be able to exhibit regular attendance.
