Job Summary:
A Licensed Professional Counselor provides mental health support and therapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups. This role involves assessing clients' mental health needs, developing treatment plans, and providing counseling services to help clients achieve personal growth, improve relationships, and manage mental health issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' mental health, emotional well-being, and behavioral needs using standardized tools and clinical interviews.
- Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on client assessments, outlining specific goals, therapeutic approaches, and timelines.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual, group, and family counseling, to address a wide range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship problems.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to clients in crisis, providing immediate support and intervention to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and document clients' progress toward treatment goals, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
- Client Advocacy: Advocate for clients' needs within the community and connect them with additional resources and support services.
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of client information in accordance with ethical guidelines and legal requirements.
- Continuing Education: Stay current with developments in the field of counseling through ongoing professional development and continuing education.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Licensure: Valid state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent (e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).
- Experience: Previous experience providing counseling services, preferably in a clinical setting.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, active listening, and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Knowledge: Understanding of various therapeutic modalities and evidence-based practices, as well as familiarity with mental health disorders and treatment strategies.
- Ethics: Commitment to ethical practice and adherence to professional codes of conduct.
Working Conditions:
- Work may be conducted in various settings, including private practice, telehealth
- Flexible hours may be required, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate clients' needs.
- Some positions may involve on-call responsibilities for crisis intervention.
