POSITION REQUIREMENTS *(Required Tasks)*
- Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate or repair parts of steel or other weldable materials according to SOPs
- Lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates
- Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications
- Apply competent in pulse and MIG welding
- Understand weld symbols and measurements
- Learn NCR and First Article Inspection process
- Maintain productivity of 80-90% on average
- Keep personal protective equipment (PPE) up to date
- Participate in Safety and 5S activities
- All other duties as assigned
SKILL SET *(Required Skills)*
- Entry level welder (preferred minimum of 1 year experience welding GMAW or similar process)
- Able to acquire experience and training to become AWS D1.1 certified up to a 2G position
- Able to weld non-ballistic carbon steel parts.
- Able to tack weld 46100 (HH) and MARS 300 (UHH) materials.
- Able to weld 46100 (HH) materials with supervision according to WPS
- Basic computer skills necessary to train to ERP system responsibilities for basic functions
- Understanding of Payroll system and policies including attendance (log in/ out procedures, transferring jobs, verifying hours worked, PTO time available, etc.)
- Comprehension of SOP's/Quality Standards and the responsibilities involved with each
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The duties of this job require the employee to perform mostly standing work with occasional movement throughout the facility to transfer or deliver parts. Constant use of hands/fingers to handle and control welding equipment. Frequent lifting and/or pushing up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting and/or pushing up to 80 pounds. Occasional bending, squatting, and stooping. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
