Position Summary:
To ensure that welding is performed safely and in accordance with specifications and procedures to meet or exceed the customer requirements and Argon Industries ISO policies and procedures.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Inspecting welds: Visually inspect and assess the quality of welds utilizing the standards called out on the print
Reviewing documents: Review welding specifications, project documentation, and contract requirements. Must know D1.1 and D1.3 AWS standards
Ensuring compliance: Verify that welders are qualified AWS D1.1. and use the correct tools and materials
Developing quality control programs: Create and implement quality control measures to improve welding processes and designs
Communicating: Communicate with employees, clients and other inspectors
Coordinating inspections: Coordinate inspections with regulatory bodies
Providing feedback: Provide daily feedback to the plant manager
Documenting: Record all production inspection points and compile a final report
Comparing information: Compare recorded information with acceptance criteria and application standards
Secondary Position Responsibilities:
- Understand, train and monitor all employees to Argon’s Quality Policy & Requirements and ISO procedures
- Assist with ISO internal audits
- Communicate with customers, suppliers and coworkers. Prepare, review, enforce and/or follow up with all CARs, SCARs, Customer Complaints etc, completing all paperwork, requests, etc in a timely manner.
- Organize and maintain all Quality Assurance documentation and files
- Inspect all incoming material ensuring all materials accepted meet the inspection criteria of Argon Industries
- Interpret ASTM and AISI standards and judge compliance to the standards (including flatness and squareness)
- Responsible to revise and maintain updated Work Instructions relative to quality
- All other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
- Must have 5+ years of welding experience
- Must be D1.1 qualified
- Must have experience as quality inspector.
- Must have ability to use or learn all inspection equipment, ie micrometers, calipers, height gages, CMM’s, etc.
- Must have ability to read and interpret blueprints, including geometric tolerances and weld symbols.
- Must have ability to perform manual layout inspection.
- Helpful to have working knowledge of quality systems and familiarity with ISO.
Must complete a 90 day probationary period
