We are now accepting applications for the following position: Position: Wheelabrator Lead Location: Blackfoot, Idaho Job Summary: The Wheelabrator Lead will provide support to the Department Supervisor on the production of equipment, employee supervision, allocation and organization of resources, project management, and the development and achievement of departmental and organizational goals. The Lead will be available for extended shifts, on-call, and overtime work where appropriate to respond to the needs of the build plan. Teamwork and customer service skills are important, as Leads are expected to work directly and indirectly with employees, other leads, supervisors, managers, and outside vendors. The Lead will consistently demonstrate a high level of responsibility and accountability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. • Spend 85% to 95% of time producing products as required by the Department Supervisor, including: • Set up, program, and operate machining equipment according to build plan needs. • Read and understand technical drawings and geometric tolerances. • Complete final inspection of parts and components prior to releasing them to downline customers to ensure the highest quality product is being delivered. • Perform routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting analysis before, during, and after machining processes, making necessary adjustments to ensure the smooth operation of machines while maintaining quality standards. • Become a technical expert for products manufactured and be a top performer in workmanship, safety, and work ethics. • Understand and teach the definition of quality and measurements for determining quality to ensure that team members produce high-quality workmanship. • Train team members in new products and techniques, working one-on-one when necessary. • Assist the Supervisor in setting and achieving production goals, including maintaining and tracking production hours. • Supervise and support team members to ensure all production schedules are met. • Ensure all established processes and procedures are implemented and adhered to. • Maintain the correct and efficient flow of work on the shop floor, including diagnosing and resolving issues with parts and overseeing parts rework. • Ensure preventative maintenance checks, procedures, turn-down reports, and data sheets are completed and accurate on a daily basis. • Work with the Department Supervisor to ensure necessary resources, such as parts and documentation, are accurate and available to meet schedules. • Effectively communicate to Supervisors or Managers when performance evaluations or disciplinary actions are required. • Effectively communicate and coordinate with all levels of the organization to analyze and resolve production issues inside and outside the department. Requirements: • Minimum of 2 years of schooling, training, and/or experience in machining technology preferred. • Ability to consistently machine close tolerances. • Well-developed knowledge of processes, equipment, parts, systems, tools, and machinery used in a machine shop. • Experience reading and interpreting instructional drawings and schematics. • Proficiency in basic shop math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). • Proficiency in using all types of measuring tools as required (tape measures, micrometers, calipers, etc.). • Ability to successfully manage multiple employees, projects, and deadlines. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Ability to effectively work with database management systems, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software. Machines Typically Operated CNC and manual lathe and mill, drill press, saw, grinder, hand tools, ironworker, saw, drill press, shear, press brake, burn table, water jet, belt sander, forklift, etc.; Other machines and equipment specific to departmental or facility needs. Typical Physical Requirements Heavy work involving: climbing, handling, talking, reaching, crouching, walking, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, grasping, feeling, hearing, standing, visual acuity, small motor skills, repetitive motions, lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Typical Environmental Conditions Worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. May have temperature changes due to working inside a shop. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level. Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dust mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
