**Deckhand - United Trades of America**
**Location: St. Rose, Louisiana**
**Position: Full-Time**
United Trades of America is currently seeking both experienced and entry-level Deckhands for full-time positions in St. Rose, Louisiana, to work on our clients vessels. Our client offers opportunities for rapid advancement, faster than any other company in the industry.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Build and inspect tows using various tools and equipment, including wrenches, ratchets, shackles, chain straps, and wires/cables.
- Move and stack rigging across the vessel and barges.
- Relocate pumps and hoses on barges and position hoses in wing tanks/voids for water removal.
- Assist with barge locking, sweeping, and shoveling.
- Carry rigging equipment (ratchets, wires, straps), pumps, hoses, lines, and other materials weighing 50-100 lbs.
- Perform outdoor tasks for extended periods in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Handle daily vessel housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, and maintaining crew quarters.
- Inspect barges for water or leaks, occasionally requiring entry into confined spaces.
- Maintain vessel appearance through washing, cleaning, chipping, and painting.
- Assist with the stocking and delivery of supplies to and from the vessel.
- Support skiff operations for crew transitions between shore and vessel.
- Put out sounders at the head of the barge on Linehaul Vessels.
- Assist with the direct transfer of fuel, lubricants, and bilge liquids.
- Perform fleet/tow work, preparing barges for delivery to customers.
- Participate in general vessel cleaning duties such as trash removal, mopping, scraping, sanding, and painting.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications:**
- Ability to work away from home for extended periods (standard rotation: 28 days away, 14 days home).
- Prior experience is preferred but not required.
- Physical labor experience, especially in outdoor environments, is a plus.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be at least 18 years old to board a vessel.
- Must meet physical qualifications in line with company guidelines.
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to attain it is required.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Capable of handling and lifting rigging equipment weighing 75-100 lbs.
