WIC Nutritionist/ Registered Dietician - Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska

Position:  WIC Nutritionist or Registered Dietician

Program and Location:  WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program – Lexington, NE

Position Summary:   WIC is about daily contacts to “at risk” individuals and families in a client-centered environment within our communities to make a difference through assessments, education, support, and healthy foods. 

Responsibilities:   Primary duties include counseling and promoting health, breastfeeding, and nutrition, determining nutritional risks, prescribing supplemental foods, and providing health education and care management to individuals and families who are members of vulnerable population and high- risk groups, along with community outreach.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Home Economics/Consumer and Family Science with emphasis in nutrition from an accredited college or university.  Registered Dietitian preferred, but not required. Will consider applicants with relevant nursing experience and education, ie: Registered Nurses (RN), Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree in nursing with current Nebraska license, or Licensed Practical Nurse with current Nebraska license. 

Required Skills:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Excellent customer service.

• Knowledge of Nutrition, Health, and Breastfeeding in the maternal and pediatric field. 

• Bilingual considered a plus and includes additional compensation.

• Current Breastfeeding credentials (CBE, CLC, or IBCLC) a plus and includes additional compensation.

Schedule/Hours: Four days a week, typically Monday through Thursday, 8 hours per day, 32 hours a week. Scheduled hours are typically between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pay Rate:Nutritionist with BA or MA starting wage range is $22.44-$24.48/hr.  RD starting wage is $26.52/hr.  Additional compensation available for candidates with relevant experience, credentials, and skills.

Benefits: The Nutritionist wage with benefits calculates to an approximate value of $28.72-$31.33; RD $33.94.  Benefits provided include:  paid holidays, PTO, short term disability insurance, and Employee Assistance Program.  Other benefits available include:  health, dental, vision, cancer/critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident, and voluntary life insurance, as well as retirement and flexible spending account.
