Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Windows System Administrator to manage and maintain the organization's Windows-based server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of Windows servers, Active Directory, and related systems. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and administering systems to ensure business continuity and provide technical support to users.
Responsibilities:
System Administration & Maintenance:
Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights using Active Directory.
Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and system reliability.
Security Management:
Implement security policies, standards, and configurations to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the Windows server environment.
Perform regular system updates, patches, and vulnerability assessments to safeguard against security threats.
Administer antivirus and endpoint protection tools, ensuring systems are protected from malware and viruses.
Backup & Recovery:
Ensure data backup processes are in place and functioning properly.
Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure quick recovery in the event of system failure or data loss.
Perform routine system backups and assist with the restoration of files, servers, and databases.
Troubleshooting & Support:
Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for Windows Server-related issues, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network problems.
Manage and respond to system alerts, outages, and performance bottlenecks, ensuring timely resolution.
Support end users by troubleshooting desktop and server issues and resolving system errors.
Network & System Monitoring:
Utilize monitoring tools to track the health and performance of Windows servers and network infrastructure.
Analyze logs and system performance metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements.
Administer Windows server virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.
Automation & Scripting:
Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell or other scripting languages.
Implement process automation to increase system efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
Develop and maintain system documentation, including processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Upgrades & System Improvements:
Plan and execute system upgrades, including hardware, software, and network components.
Research and recommend new technologies and improvements to enhance the performance and security of the Windows environment.
Collaborate with other IT teams to support system integrations and infrastructure upgrades.
Compliance & Best Practices:
Ensure systems comply with organizational security policies, regulations, and industry standards.
Follow ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management processes.
Conduct regular audits and assessments of system configurations and policies to ensure they meet compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
7+ years of experience as a Windows System Administrator.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server OS (2016, 2019, 2022), Active Directory, and Group Policy.
Experience with PowerShell scripting and task automation.
Familiarity with Hyper-V or VMware virtualization technologies.
Experience with network protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP) and server hardware.
Proficiency in managing backup solutions and disaster recovery processes.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
