About the Job
The Wire Room Attendant will need to read and understand the EB policies and procedures regarding weld wire understanding and administering the wire room responsibilities of proper receiving, storage, handling and conditioning, acceptance of weld wire requisitions, issuance and discarding of welding consumables. The Wire Room Attendant will also issue tools, PPE, and other tool crib related items.
The candidate must have the ability to use/learn personnel and mainframe computers preferred. Must retain an ability to work independently with minimal supervisor oversight. Be comfortable participating in company and consumer audits. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills is required. Available to work various shifts and overtime to support shipyard construction schedules. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance.
Qualifications:Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with level 1 welding and construction materials as they relate to welding consumable issue
- Schedule, order, track and prioritize weld consumable type materials for EB wire rooms including interfacing with management, planning, purchasing, QP warehouses, QP inspection and Groton engineering
- Move heavy pallets of weld wire and stock welding materials in an orderly fashion, as per level 1 procedure
- Schedule, order, track and prioritize tool crib type materials for EBCORP tool rooms including interfacing with trades all level of management
- Move pallets of crib materials and stock crib materials in an orderly fashion, contingent with any EBCORP procedures
- Participate in company and customer audit procedures
- Use of Stairs and Ladders
- Need to be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs, stand for extended period of time, twist, bend, kneel and stoop
Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance to enter all areas of the shipyard (CIA)
- Must be able to work until the end of the normal scheduled shift hours
- Work overtime as required to cover extended hours and weekends
Preferred:
- Prior experience as a welder or wire room alternate
- Be able to work safely in an environment of heavy and at times heated products
- Steadfastness enough to properly conduct verbal exchange for proper weld wire issue identification
- Comfortable participating in company and customer audit procedures
- Have a high propensity to learn and operate the ATICTS system weld wire computer programming including report running, creating part numbers, receiving and entering inventory
- Have ability to master other related programming such as MRPII for weld wire ordering
