Job Summary — A Wood Shop Craftsman specializes in the fabrication of custom architectural woodwork products including flush wood doors and frames, custom stile and rail wood doors and frames, and related products for commercial, medical, and educational facilities.
The Wood Shop Craftsman is responsible and accountable for:
- Maintaining a safe, productive, and timely work environment
- Fabricating custom architectural woodwork projects and stile and rail wood doors in our woodworking facility with the use of various tools.
- Good workmanship in all activities
- Coordination with Shop Foreman and Shop Manager as required to ensure the work is completed properly and in alignment with customer expectations.
- Seeks out training on new skills and installation techniques and diligently listens and consistently applies knowledge gained to grow expertise as a craftsman.
- Participate in any and all applicable training opportunities for both safety and this position.
- Report daily job progress to Shop Foreman.
- Work a flexible schedule as needed when work dictates.
- Complete tasks with a safety-first mindset.
- Fabrication of doors and frames and repairing damaged doors with proper refinishing technique.
- Problem-solving.
- Ability to read hardware templates and shop drawings.
- Ability to properly finish wood with stains and applied topcoats and finishes
Experience & Other Requirements
- Experienced with woodwork shop fabrication, cabinetry, and casework
- Knowledge and capability to make repairs to doors with damage using proper refinishing techniques
- High quality workmanship
- Strong attention to detail
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- No issue with repetitive use of fingers and hands, standing, squatting, bending and lifting up to 50lbs
