Longshore/Defense Base Act Attorney

The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 years of proven experience in longshore and workers compensation litigation, including trial case involvement, and possess a genuine commitment to helping individuals navigate the complexities of their claims.

Responsibilities:- Client Counseling: Assess client situations, provide expert advice on legal options, and develop strategies to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Case Strategy Development: Identify client conflicts and formulate case strategies, including options for resolution and recommendations for effective legal actions.
- Legal Research and Drafting: Conduct thorough legal research and prepare essential legal documents such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence.
- Court Representation: Represent clients in court, effectively arguing motions and advocating for their interests during legal proceedings.
- Document Preparation: Draft and prepare various legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards and firm procedures.
- Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with a strong background in longshore law.
- Law Firm Experience: At least 1-2 years of prior experience working in a law firm, demonstrating the ability to handle a diverse caseload effectively.
- Legal Research and Writing: Advanced skills in legal research and document preparation, including drafting motions, pleadings, and briefs.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficiency with contemporary legal software and legal research programs.
- Bar Association Membership: Active member of the local bar association, with preference given to those holding an active membership.
- Client Advocacy: Proven ability to provide compassionate and effective client counseling and representation in court.
