Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as an experience Workers' Compensation Defense Legal Assistant - Paralegal supporting attorneys as an overflow assistant for all California offices. The ideal candidate will be comfortable adapting to the needs of the attorneys and stepping in to assist with overflow assignments due to an influx of work or as coverage for other team members. The ideal candidate will have the aptitude to work in a paperless enviroment with prior experience supporting workers’ compensation defense attorneys as well as experience e-filing (EAMS filing), creating QME/AME packages, managing attorney calendars, preparing legal documents and correspondence, trial exhibits, and scheduling depos and examinations.
This role requires the employee to be in the office three days per week. This posistion could also be based out of our Los Angeles office.

IMPORTANT QUALITIES:
Communication Skills: The legal assistant - paralegal must be able to document and present their legal research and any related information to their supervising attorney(s) in a timely manner.
Computer Skills: The legal assistant - paralegal needs to be familiar with using computers for legal research and litigation support as well as support in any other facets of law. In addition, the legal assistant - paralegal needs to be familiar with computer software that may help them organize and maintain legal documents.
Interpersonal Skills: The legal assistant - paralegal will spend most of their time working closely with clients and other professionals and must be able to develop good relationships.
Organizational Skills: The legal assistant - paralegals will be responsible for many cases at times. They must adapt to a fast paced environment with constant changing of deadlines and have excellent organizational skills.
Job Description:
- Perform administrative duties, including proofreading and editing all materials for extreme accuracy and clarity.
- The ability to accurately type 65-75 words per minute
- Ensure accuracy of naming conventions for cases and proper saving of all electronic files related to assigned matters, experience with iManage is a plus.
- Exercise knowledge of legal documents and terminology
- Assist with calendar calls and deposition scheduling, as needed
- Experience with E-file, all types of discovery requests, responses to opposing counsel, motions, calendaring and docketing deadlines, knowledge with EAMS is a plus.
Requirements/Skills:
- 3+ years experience in Workers' Compensation practice is preferred.
- Knowledge of billing and adherence to client guidelines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Positive attitude
Benefits:
This role offers a hourly salary and bonus opportunity. The hourly salary range for this position is $28.00 to $36.00. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers a full benefits package.
