Job Summary: The Legal Secretary for the Worker's Compensation Department will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to attorneys and legal staff specializing in worker's compensation claims. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of worker's compensation laws and procedures.

- Administrative Support: Provide high-level administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence.
- Document Management: Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests. Ensure all documents are filed in compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
- Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders. Manage client intake and maintain client files with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Case Management: Assist with case preparation by organizing evidence, drafting reports, and preparing case summaries. Track case progress and manage deadlines for filings and court appearances.
- Billing and Records: Maintain accurate billing records, process invoices, and manage expense reports. Ensure compliance with firm policies for client billing and accounting.
- Court Filings: Prepare and file documents with the court, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines. Handle electronic filing systems and coordinate with court clerks.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage office supplies, coordinate with vendors, and ensure the office operates smoothly. Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or paralegal certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal secretary, preferably in worker's compensation or personal injury law.
- Experience working in the case management system Litify a plus.
- Knowledge of worker’s compensation laws and regulations is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to work in an office environment.
- Sitting for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry files and office supplies up to 20 pounds.
