About the Job
Reporting to the lead ABE Workforce Education Program Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for providing vocational language training for commercial driving students using instructional strategies tailored to non-native English speakers. The instructor must be proficient in Spanish and will educate students to a level of English comprehension for successful achievement of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License through targeted vocational language instruction. Ideal candidates prioritize service and mentorship to our students.
Responsibilities:
· Lead and deliver comprehensive vocational training in commercial driving, incorporating language support to help non-native English speakers understand specialized terminology and procedures.
· Develop, maintain, and adapt vocational training materials and lesson plans, integrating language support techniques to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
· Build and sustain partnerships with the business community to open practical training opportunities and potential student employment pathways.
· Implement various teaching strategies aligned with the program's vocational learning objectives, accommodating students' varied educational backgrounds.
· Stay abreast of educational strategies, especially those that improve the effectiveness of vocational training for non-native English speakers.
· Stay informed about the latest developments in commercial driving and other technical education areas.
