We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Workforce & Equipment Manager to oversee both our labor resources and construction equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure that our workforce is properly managed, skilled, and effectively allocated, while also maintaining our equipment to ensure it is readily available, safe, and operational for all projects. This position reports to the VP of Operations.
Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:
Workforce Management:
- Workforce Planning: Help develop and implement staffing plans to meet project needs, including determining the right mix of skills and timelines.
- Workforce Expansion: Help grow our workforce year over year to meet ongoing project needs.
- Talent Sourcing: Actively recruit tradespeople to ensure we have a steady flow of candidates, especially for hard-to-fill positions.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with HR and project managers to recruit, onboard, and retain skilled workers.
- Resource Allocation: Coordinate with project teams to effectively assign labor resources and oversee skilled labor deployment.
- Training: Identify training needs and ensure our workers have the skills and safety training required.
- Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between the workforce, project managers, and senior leadership.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on staffing levels, labor costs, and workforce metrics.
Equipment Management:
- Equipment Oversight: Manage the entire lifecycle of our construction equipment, ensuring everything is in top working condition and meets safety standards.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of all equipment, including tracking usage, location, and condition.
- Maintenance Coordination: Ensure proper storage and coordinate regular maintenance and repairs.
- Logistics: Oversee the timely delivery and retrieval of equipment to and from job sites.
- Financial Management: Manage billing for equipment usage, ensuring accurate invoicing and detailed financial reporting.
- Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with equipment suppliers and service providers.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of labor management, construction equipment, inventory management, and logistics.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Proficient with computers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), Workers Compensation, and drug/alcohol testing protocols.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Trades certification or technical diploma/degree in a related field is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in a lead hand or foreperson role is preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Must be able to: Climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders; Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects and materials; Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively to meet the physical demands of our industry. Stand or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods of time. Must have acceptable vision (either naturally or with correction). Normal office working conditions and associated physical demands. Sit a desk using a computer, and in meeting for long periods of time. Twist to reach equipment surrounding desk.
