Title: Working Supervisor (CNC and Manual Machining)
Reports To: Plant Superintendent – Rock Hill
Reports: Shop Employees
POSITION CHARTER
Manage the shop workforce on assigned shift to meet or exceed production goals, contributing to earned hours through personal production while training in each shop functional area. Responsible for maximizing production throughput while minimizing costs to meet or exceed customer service requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Progress satisfactorily on plant wide training plan to learn each functional area to progress to plant supervisor position.
- Contribute to plant production by earning individual production hours in each area of the plant while following training plan.
- Troubleshoots and resolves machining and grinding production problems.
- Submit shift employee schedule to meet or exceed production goals and customer requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring shift compliance with the company’s quality system and commitment to total customer satisfaction.
- Support and initiate cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Implements and supports lean manufacturing systems to eliminate waste.
- Requisitions shop supplies, tooling, packaging, etc. to support production.
- Plan and coordinate employee training and development.
- Ensures that the ASAP (SAP) daily job card reporting is timely and accurate.
- Monitors, motivates and directs shop floor employees.
- Assists in the recruitment and selection of shop employees.
- Assists Plant Superintendent – Rock Hill in achieving company goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Interpersonal, team building, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of machine shop operations (i.e. chip making, grinding, lapping, and heat-treating).
- Skill in blueprint reading and knowledge of GDT.
- Basic knowledge of metallurgical principles.
- Knowledge of Lean – World Class Manufacturing methods.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, through all levels of a manufacturing organization.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- A.S. degree (or equivalent experience) in manufacturing production or business.
- At least five years of supervisory experience in a discrete parts manufacturing environment.
