A prestigious hospital located in Brooklyn has an immediate need for an X-Ray Technologist
Type: Contract
Schedule: 4pm- 12am 5x8s alternating weekends
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Responsibilities:
Treatment of patients:
Arrange treatment appointments.
Deliver radiation to patients in accordance with physician's instructions.
Operate all types of radiotherapy equipment, i.e., Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, etc.
Pre-Treatment Preparation:
Operate simulator for localization of tumor size and position.
Takes contours and collects all physical factors for treatment plans.
Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.
Take photographs of patients for portal verification's, etc.
Patient Care Activities:
Recognize all types of radiation reactions and provides the proper care and instructions to patients.
Educate patients with respect to radiation therapy reactions and also life style modifications.
Instruct incoming Residents and technologists in the use of equipment.
Prepare cerrobend alloy blocks. Fabricate plastic holders for blocks.
Construct and fabricate patient immobilization devices.
Take and develop radiographs.
Maintain patient management room neat and orderly.
Coordinate department with inpatient activities to provide proper patient care. When necessary, transports inpatients.
Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of accredited Radiologic program required.
Experience:
1 -2 years of experience as an x-ray tech
Certification in the operation of Radiologic equipment and treatment required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of Radiologic equipment in use
Good patient interpersonal skills
Ability to read and speak English
Ability to fully utilize electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
