Youth Recovery Home Behavioral Specialist ($55,868 - $83,807) - Muckleshoot Indian Tribe

JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, this position supervises the residents of the MIT Health Division's Youth Recovery Home (YRH), which is a 24/7 residential facility for youth, providing a positive drug and alcohol free environment that promotes healthy transitions to independent living. This position will assess residents' needs, monitor daily living activities, and engage in behavior modification techniques to achieve resident-plan goals. MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Attendance: + To be in attendance and on time. + To demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance. + To attend team meetings, consultations, supervision and other program meetings. Clinical and Assessment Skills: + Supervises the residents of the MIT Health Division Youth Recovery Home (YRH). Assesses the needs of the YRH residents and engages in behavior modification techniques to achieve resident-plan goals. Monitors resident's daily living activities ensuring their safety and compliance with YRH rules. + Works closely with the YRH Supervisor in developing a behavioral level system designed to reinforce healthy behaviors and reduce negative behaviors. + Provides life coaching around various developmental challenges. Ensures appropriate referrals are made to Licensed Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Professionals when deemed appropriate. + Provides education and activities to residents to promote positive social skills, independent living skills, and healthy peer relationships. + Works with external agencies such as schools, employers, Muckleshoot Child and Family Services (MCFS), the court system, treatment providers, etc. to assist residents in meeting their goals. + Documents services as deemed necessary by the YRH Supervisor. Documents and tracks resident progress toward their stated goals. + Proficient at developing resident-plans to identify goals and track progress. Safety: + Adheres to safety policies and procedures within the Health Division. + Participates in filing incident reports when appropriate and forwards them to the Family & Youth Program Manager in a timely manner. + Responds to emergencies calmly and professionally. Communication: + Represents the MIT Health Division in a positive and professional manner when interacting with clients and the community. + Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations skills in dealing with other staff and providers. + Proficient in written communication; legible and accurate documentation, scheduling, correspondence, and forms. + Consistently maintains confidentiality in regards to all client information and follows HIPAA policies and procedures. + Establishes and ensures that client records are in accordance with the WAC's and applicable Tribal, Federal and State codes and agreements. + Participates in staff and in-service meetings. Attends appropriate interdepartmental meetings with other Tribal programs. + Demonstrates strong client advocacy and empowerment skills. + Demonstrates conflict management and resolution skills as they apply to client care issues. + Is proactive in communicating with supervisors regarding any unusual circumstances concerning staff or the program in general. + Ability to give oral presentations effectively. Other Duties: + Transport of clients when necessary. + Attendance at mandatory and/or approved trainings. + Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities. EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION Required: + A Bachelor's Degree in psychology, or a related behavioral science discipline from an accredited college or university. + Two (2) years of youth residential treatment experience. + An additional two (2) years (four years total) of youth residential experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. + Experience working with Native American populations preferred. + Must pass pre-employment, urinalysis testing and criminal background check. + Current and valid WA State driver's license. + No substance abuse for the past three (3) years. + Current negative TB test and/or medical documentation stating employee is not contagious. SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION + Childhood development models and child psychology. + Milieu treatment and behavioral level systems. + Behavior modification techniques. + Conflict resolution with adolescents. + Native American culture and how culture pertains to treatment. + Social services systems. + Chemical Dependency treatment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Able to communicate effectively in the English language in person, phone, and writing. + Ability to be physically active up to 75% of the time to include standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching. + Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. + Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing and computer input. Licenses or Certifications Required A current and valid Washington State Driver's license and CPR certification is required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
